Live Podcast at the Spring Street Salt Shed

  • Spring Street Salt Shed 336 Spring Street New York, NY, 10013 United States (map)

Person Place Thing is a live podcast interview show based on the idea that people are particularly engaging when they speak, not directly about themselves, but about things that they care about. Founded and hosted by the humorist and writer Randy Cohen of the New York Times Magazine, this podcast features surprising stories from great talkers and thinkers.

Mierle Laderman Ukeles will talk about one person, one place, and one thing important to her. One of the first artists to partner with the City, Ukeles has been the official Artist-in-Residence at the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) since 1977. Her first major work with DSNY was "Touch Sanitation Performance," in which she filmed herself shaking the hand of each of the 8,500 Sanitation Workers, thanking them for "keeping New York City Alive."

We invite you to join us for an evening of great conversation, live music by Hubby Jenkins, and a chance to experience the beautiful Spring Street Salt Shed.

This event is hosted by the Foundation for New York's Strongest, the official nonprofit partner of the NYC Department of Sanitation. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the Foundation's work to promote sustainable waste management in NYC.
