Person Place Thing is an interview show based on the idea that people are particularly engaging when they speak not directly about themselves, but about things that they care about. Ukeles will talk about one person, one place, and one thing important to her. One of the first artists to partner with the City, Ukeles has been the official Artist-in-Residence at DSNY since 1977. What is Here is Open: Selections from the Treasures in the Trash Collection

For over 30 years, Nelson Molina worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) as a sanitation worker. While he worked, he found many objects; some that needed repair and others that were fully intact. Molina, along with curator Alicia Grullón, will choose objects from the Treasures in the Trash Collection to accompany seven contemporary artists’ works, creating unique, site-specific installations at the Hunter East Harlem Gallery.
